Symbiont Space

Project

Since August 2020, Roland Fischer has been serving as founder of Symbiont Space, freely following the motto “There is no one way of knowing, there are many.” The program is oriented towards the intersection of science, technology, and art. Its activities focus on process-oriented works, artistic research, bioarts, and tech-criticism. Each year, approximately five exhibitions and twenty events are realized, either at the artist's own initiative, by invitation, or in the course of various collaborations, such as with the FHNW, researchers at the University of Basel, festivals (including ZeitRäume), and other actors in Switzerland and abroad. The space is strongly influenced by its former use: it is characterized by very distincitve interior architecture, which is as challenging as it is appealing for installation-related interventions, and offers the perfect setting for events due to its prime location.
